Dear runners
Once again we are bringing you some disappointing news about the Mulberry Bush Montessori Balfron 10k. We had hoped our next communication with you would be a positive one, setting out full details of our proposed event on Sunday, April 25 this year.
After very careful consideration, however, we have come to the difficult decision that due to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions we will have to cancel this year’s event.
Throughout this new lockdown period we have been closely monitoring all advice and guidelines being given by the Scottish Government. We had looked at postponing the event into September/October 2021 as some races are doing, but since it now seems likely there will still be social distancing restrictions in place around that date, it would be impossible to organise and deliver the community event that is the Mulberry Bush Montessori Balfron 10k.
Also, if we did reschedule our race for Autumn 2021 but were forced to postpone again, it would be mean months of planning and effort by our volunteers would be wasted, and further disappointment heaped on our entrants.
We will instead now focus on running our race in 2022.
All of our 10k team are saddened at having to make this decision but as we made clear before, the welfare of runners, volunteers, visitors and our community is paramount.
Obviously some of you have already deferred your entry from 2020 into 2021 and these entries will be carried over into 2022 without any further action from yourselves.
While we hope you will join us in 2022 and support the good causes we donate to, any runner unable to take part next year can request a refund of £15.72 (non-Scottish Athletics members) and £13.72 (Scottish Athletics). This takes into account our costs already incurred for the 2020 race. Please contact entry@balfron10k.org.uk if you would prefer a refund rather than 2022 race entry. In most cases refunds will be handled by Paypal, using the same account used to pay. Please allow up to 4 weeks for this to be processed.
We look forward to welcoming you back to the start line in 2022 but in the meantime, stay safe and keep running.
The Balfron 10k committee
