Almost 700 runners entered Balfron’s annual 10k in April and raised over £7,500. This brings the total raised in 7 years to an amazing £50,000. The funds raised this year will be split between Balfron Primary School, Balfron High School and the charity CHAS.
Already voted the Number One 10k in Scotland by readers of Runners World, the Mulberry Bush Montessori Balfron 10k race has captured the imagination of the local community and runners of all abilities from all over the UK.
Colin Mendham, Balfron 10k Race Director said ” This year the Mulberry Bush Montessori Balfron 10k was even bigger and better than ever, encouraging local runners both young and old to take part and enjoy an active healthy lifestyle. The whole community has been involved and has been very excited to see this event on their own doorstep. Our sincere thanks go out to our very generous main sponsor Mairi Clark of the Mulberry Bush Montessori, local business sponsors, the runners, spectators and the army of volunteers who give up their time to ensure that Balfron hosts a very prestigious and successful event”
Neil McQuarrie, Principal Teacher of PE at Balfron High said “This is a fantastic sum of money that the Balfron 10k is donating to both schools and is very much appreciated. I am always amazed, not only at the amount of money raised but the feeling of community that the Balfron 10K event creates. It is an important fundraiser for us and such commitment from Balfron and the business community is wonderful.”
